Hot StoneFusion
What is Hot StoneFusion?
Hot StoneFusion is a complementary therapy and should not be considered as an alternative to conventional medicine. I trained with Jing Massage in Brighton, to find out more about Hot StoneFusion and courses please go to www.jingmassage.com.
The stones have the ability to make a reflexology treatment more holistic in nature. The goal of the treatment is to free up areas of pain.
Hot StoneFusion is the ultimate combination between therapy and luxury. The worldly elements of earth, water and fire are brought together to bring about change.
This gentle therapy encourages the body to work naturally to restore its own healthy balance.
Can Hot StoneFusion help me?
Reflexology is a wonderfully relaxing treatment which is suitable for all ages, adults to children and may bring relief to a wide range of acute and chronic conditions. Combining Reflexology with the heat from the Hot Stones will only enhance the therapy.
Hot and Cold Stones can also be used to enhance Hopi Ear Candling treatments, the combination of hot and cold will help with conditions such at Sinusitis, Hayfever, Headaches and Migraine to name but a few.
All of us can benefit from some time taken for ourselves, to relax and reduce the stresses on ourselves due to the busy lifestyles we lead. Reflexology can also be particularly helpful in dealing with many of those long term and recurring conditions that many of us think we just have to accept as normal.
About the Stones
The stones are igneous stones that were formed by volcanic lava cooling thousands of years ago. Their main element is basalt, which has high iron content and allows the stones to stay warm for longer periods of time. The magic of the stones lies in their high iron content, which helps them absorb and transmit the heat of the water. One of the most common misconceptions is that the stones are merely placed on the body and left.
Hot Stones
The stones are heated in water to a safe but effective temperature (between 100-120 degrees). The therapist, holding the stones, actively massages the lower leg and feet.
Cold Stones
As moist heat has many healing properties, so too does cold. Cold is an excellent treatment for acute injuries and is highly effective in reducing swelling and inflammation. The contrast bathing of hot and cold immersion and application is one of the greatest tools available to rehabilitation therapists and can have its place in many massages.
How many treatments will I need?
This luxurious and wonderfully relaxing treatment can enhance your reflexology treatments so a course of six treatments can often have an amazing result but also just as a treat now and again would be benefical.
Many clients choose to have top-up treatments in addition to their reflexology once every 3 to 5 weeks to maintain improvement.
Each client is given a suggested treatment plan based on the findings during the initial treatments.
Treatment plans will vary from client to client
The Treatment
The first appointment includes a consultation period, whereby the treatment can be tailored specifically for the client.
During the treatment the client lies on a couch, supported with pillows and covered in a soft blanket.
Warm oil is applied directly to the legs and feet before the stones are used, so the stones can easily glide over the contours of the lower leg and feet.
After your Hot StoneFusion treatment stones will be place between your toes and your feet wrapped in a thick towel.
You will be left to relax with the warmth of the stones and, in the background, the gentle sounds of soft music.
The result is a highly nurturing and therapeutic effect. The treatment is a blend of nature's therapy and medical science. The use of heat (fire), water, stone (earth), metal (iron content in the stones) and wood (apricot oil) corresponds to the Eastern concept of the 5 elements.
After your relaxation period, your feet will be treated to a salt glow rub - a mixture of sea salt and oils.
